Choose the right clothes

Wetsuit

Wetsuit / Neoprene clothing
Neoprene wet suits offer good insulation and good impact protection. It gives floats more lift. For wetsuits / clothing to offer the best thermal quality, they must be tight. That makes them quite specific to the respective wearer. They work by including a layer of water between the skin and suit, which warms up by the body heat.
To ensure a good freedom of movement, a neoprene thickness of 2-3 mm is recommended. On long sleeves is usually omitted on longer tours because the friction can be perceived as unpleasant.
On very cold days, it can also be flow or merino underwear pulled under it (no absorbent clothing!) In addition, neoprene socks and neoprene covers are recommended.
Neoprene pants should always cover the knee in whitewater to ensure impact protection.

The clothes selection should always be made depending on the water temperature.
Always choose your clothes carefully to avoid chilling in case of a longer swimmer.
Its better to be dressed too warm, then too cold, You can cool off anytime on the river.

Drysuit

When buying a dry suit for white water, make sure that the ends of the legs, arms and neck waterproof seal, this ensures only latex. Otherwise water can get into the suit, which essentially contradicts the idea of a dry suit, and makes swimming difficult.
Before using the suit on the water, always make sure that all the air escapes from the suit. If there is too much air in the suit, it will affect your agility. In the worst case, the air accumulates in the legs, this gets too much buoyancy and it is difficult to keep your head above water.
In addition, one must be aware that a dry suit offers no impact protection or thermal properties.
It requires wearing additional thermal clothing under the suit.
